BÜRKLE will deliver another glass laminating line in 2021 and support Viwinco Windows in the strategic expansion of its market position. With this, the long-standing window and door manu-facturer is focusing on a new approach to laminating flat glass and safety glass.
Freudenstadt, June 2021 - Viwinco’s purchase of the easy-LAM IFL signifies further adaptation of BÜRKLE glass laminating technology in the North American market. Family owned-and-operated window and door manufacturer Viwinco Windows, will receive the three-stage laminating line at the end of 2021. The new glass line will be an integral part of their new glass facility currently under construction, and will contrast the conventional autoclave production.
Based in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, Viwinco specializes in fully-custom vinyl windows and patio doors at industry-leading turnaround times. Viwinco produces both non-impact glass and impact-resistant glass products that are used to protect the building envelope in the event of a hurricane.
Due to the addition of the easy-LAM IFL, Viwinco will be able to laminate a wide variety of glass sizes on a lay-up area of 2600 x 5000mm in a single pass, and to do so extremely efficiently. In comparison to autoclaves, the easy-LAM IFL reduces energy costs by up to 60%. The company's self-prescribed motto "Energy-efficient windows and doors. Where production and sustainability go hand in hand" is met by the energy-efficient lamination process. Today, over 40% of Viwinco’s annual energy consumption used in their manufacturing facility, is supplied by the neighboring solar field with over 7,800 solar panels.
With the introduction of the new easy-LAM IFL, Viwinco’s new glass facility will expand total capacity and enhance product quality. "From the first contact in 2019, we had a good feeling about the project discussions with BÜRKLE. The easy-LAM IFL convinced us with advanced technology and fast cycle times and is, from our point of view, the right approach for glass lamination in the future have been researching autoclave-free lamination processes for well over a year prior to meeting with Burkle. The easy-LAM IFL utilized technology and processes that aligned with our vision for future of autoclave-free glass lamination,”explains Skyler Barnes, Director of Research and Development at Viwinco.
